Vietnam govt meeting article Sep 17th

The partnerships we nurture with our government partners are vital to the success and sustainability of our work. We aim to see children placed into families across nations, and by working with governments we have the privilege of transforming their child welfare systems in favour of family-based care.

In Vietnam, we are supporting the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA) to work towards their goals to develop foster care as a positive alternative to institutional care. According to MoLISA, there are around 170,000 children living in Social Protection Centres (orphanages), and 15,000 of these have some form of disability.* Our hope is that all of these children will find a home.

Last week, Thomas Abbott, our Team Leader in Vietnam, met with the Deputy Minister of MoLISA, to discuss the future of the partnership. We’re delighted to announce that all parties are satisfied with the current progress of the pilot project and excited to continue to work together to transform the care of vulnerable children across Vietnam.

So far, Care for Children has helped over 400,000 children find loving, kind families to call their own. With your help, we can continue to work towards our vision of helping one million children find a family. Join us now.
