"We’re grateful to Care for Children because your experience and expertise had a great impact on our new childcare law, defining very clearly the principles for alternative care.
The main challenge is that few families are willing to care for children who are not related to them. They also don’t know about the legal support and provision available. The partnership between CfC and Vietnam government can help find solutions to these problems

Project Overview
Following a successful National Foster Carer Conference in Hanoi in 2014 the Vietnamese government exclusively invited Care for Children to partner with them to help implement foster care in local communities, beginning with two pilots in Hanoi and Thai Nguyen respectively.
It is estimated that there are currently 22,000 children in over 300 government-run or monitored institutions across Vietnam.
In 2018, Care for Children began its training programme with the two pilot Social Protection Centres in Hanoi and Thai Nguyen. Foster care is a totally new concept in Vietnam, so when the first children are placed into families, it will be an historic occasion.
