Care for Children is delighted to announce the signing of a new three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Cambodian government, in a significant step forward in our partnership to develop family-based care across the country. The signing ceremony took place at Kensington Palace, in the esteemed presence of HRH Prince Michael of Kent, emphasising the importance of this collaboration. His Excellency Chea Somethy, Minister of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation, signed on behalf of the Cambodian government, and Dr Robert Glover OBE, signed on behalf of Care for Children.
This renewed commitment builds on a successful pilot project in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, as Care for Children continues to support the transition from institutional care to family-based care. The new MOU focuses on an exciting phase of expansion, allowing us to deepen our impact and work closely with the Cambodian government to embed sustainable systems that make placing children in loving families a priority.

Over the next three years, this partnership will focus on broadening training programs, equipping social workers with the skills needed to support family placements, and strengthening support systems at both local and national levels. Care for Children will also work alongside government officials to help implement best practices drawn from successful programs in neighbouring countries, ensuring a tailored approach that meets Cambodia's unique needs.
The signing of this MOU at Kensington Palace represents Cambodia’s commitment to our shared vision of creating brighter futures for orphaned and vulnerable children through the stability and care that only a family can provide. As we look to this next chapter, we remain deeply committed to walking alongside Cambodia on its journey to seeing every child grow up in a loving family environment.
Stay tuned for more updates as this partnership unfolds. Thank you for your continued support in making family-based care a reality for children in Cambodia.
