It's been an incredible start to 2014 for Care for Children!
Our team has just returned from Hong Kong and Hanoi, Vietnam. Led by our Royal Patron, His Royal Highness Prince Michael of Kent, we travelled to Hong Kong to officially announce our partnership with the IKEA Foundation, and to Hanoi to explore opportunities in expanding our work to Vietnam.
In Hong Kong, His Royal Highness formally announced our partnership with the IKEA Foundation. Our team is thrilled to receive this three year grant, which will allow Care for Children to train more family placement workers, see more children being placed into families and develop deeper relations with our partners-on-the-ground.
The highlight of our Hong Kong visit was a drinks reception, hosted at the residence of British Consul-General to Hong Kong and Macao, Ms. Caroline Wilson. Our Hong Kong Ambassador, actress and singer-songwriter Karen Mok also attended to support our cause.
In Hanoi we held a Vietnam Family Placement Conference with HRH Prince Michael, the Vice Minister of the Vietnam Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA), Dr. Doan Mau Diep and over 200 delegates in attendance over the two days. The team also had the opportunity to partner with the British Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre (CEOP) while in Hanoi.
Our hard work paid off, and the conference was a great success. Furthermore, the government body MOLISA in Hanoi has asked Care for Children to start a pilot family placement project in Vietnam in partnership with MOLISA and UNICEF in 2015! The team is looking forward to preparing for this new partnership and the new project in Vietnam in the coming months.
