Norwich School raises over £300 for Care for Children
26 April 2017

Students at Norwich School recently raised over £300 in funds for Care for Children as part of the school’s weekly community outreach programme. Multiple groups from the school participated in the programme, each working on different projects, including fundraising, raising awareness of the charity, helping with research and also taking part in communications tasks, such as sourcing social media content.

The fundraising group led an assembly about Care for Children at Norwich Lower School (pupils paid a pound to wear red or yellow), and at another local primary school, where the children placed coins around a map of China. The schools also benefited from Mandarin lessons and crafts led by the Mandarin Club, and had the chance to purchase Chinese snacks for Chinese New Year.

Isabelle Francis, Communications & Events Officer at Care for Children said, “The pupils at Norwich School have been extremely enthusiastic about the work that we do. They have not been afraid to get thoroughly involved in the projects at hand and have been incredibly committed. We are very grateful for their hard work throughout the last few months.”

Sixth former Anna Tighe said “Working for Care for Children has been such a great opportunity to help fundraise for such a worthy charity. It has given us all a sense of achievement and happiness knowing we’ve done something to help others who need it more than ourselves.”
Andy Sexton, Leadership and Community Service Co-Ordinator, added “Norwich School is pleased to be able to create awareness and support a charity, which in partnership with governments in Asia is helping to place disadvantaged children in families. All children need the stability, care and love that a family can bring. Care for Children’s model is thought-through as it retrains orphanage staff to train and support families and re-purposes orphanages into community centres.”
