Care for Children officially launched our new digital training tool, My Family, at The Summit 2025 in London in September.
By offering governments and child welfare professionals accessible, practical training, My Family strengthens the capacity of countries worldwide to build sustainable family-based care systems.
My Family is a unique tool that designed around Care for Children’s own 25 years of experience of enabling government reform towards family-based care that has led to over 1 million children now living in families.
At the Summit, delegates representing countries from Asia, Africa, Europe and the Middle East were present, all contributing to discussions on how My Family can accelerate progress in their respective nations. Designed with microlearning instructional design techniques, the tool provides step-by-step guidance and can be adapted to diverse cultural and social contexts, reinforcing Care for Children’s commitment to delivering solutions that work across borders.
Bear Grylls, adventurer and long-standing ambassador of Care for Children, opened the event, and addressed the audience with a message on resilience and the life-changing role of family.
"Care for Children helps bring children out of institutional care, and helps them find families. Not just in one country, not just in two countries, but now it's going on an even bigger journey."
Keynote speakers from Greece, Saudi Arabia, Kenya, Vietnam and Zambia provided localised updates to their own child welfare developments in relation to family-based care, and gave their endorsement of My Family.
The event concluded with remarks from David Lammy, Deputy Prime Minister of the UK, who welcomed the initiative and emphasised the critical role of governments and civil society in ensuring children grow up in families rather than institutions.
"I’m really calling on leaders across the globe to do more and to join this campaign. If we can do that, we can strengthen families and prevent unnecessary separation, and we can ensure safe, family-based alternative care."
